lol... oh i would have had all the ambition to make a vegetable person (i think they were) but not the motivation to actually do it...i don't think i entered :-( haha a bergonia - i do remember that plant - you could flick the white buds off with your thumb nail !
Oh it most certainly the cages would have doubled as a place to hold the rooster contest - in the down season it was the gym hall and had rats... oh the nerve !
I'm proud of you for entering the saucer competition i would have went and admired it for sure ! wonder if they still them... maybe i could enter now....

Seriously, I haven't stopped laughing about this since I left home this morning. And it's a half-hour tram ride!
I'd almost forgotten about the A&C pavilion! My first and only entry was in the floral art category. I think I was around eight or nine. It was a decorated saucer. Alas, I didn't get a place; the competition was pretty stiff. I remember being so proud of my entry though! Did you enter as well? I vaguely remember something...was it a vegetable carving??

Do you remember that deep purple plant with the white buds? I keep wanting to call it a begonia...but it's most definitely not. It kind of looks like Purple Knight but it flowers. Oh I really need that book of FNQ plants that Gra has! Actually Bernee Bean will know. Anyway, it was made out of foliage from that plant! It wasn't attractive. But it was florally artistic...

There was some really great things in it over the years. Pity about those cages though...couldn't someone just make some glass ones? Where they dual purpose for the rooster competition?
