Hunting around Bridge tonight, I found an oldie. It was taken over a year ago at the velodrome on a gorgeous winter morning. I remember this day, I headed out early and ended up staying out all day until sunset to take a time-lapse across the east footy oval. I was crazy about time-lapsing sunsets and sunrises for a few months there. Maybe one day I’ll make something with them!

A little thank-you for my amazing friend Stox. It’s a card. A little anim. She’s helped me out so much over the years and more recently this week with something I’m working on. I hope this makes her smile. It might even help with her sign-language class.

I did this in the Jabberwocky project style/treatment. I don’t know why. It’s possible that I’ve developed Stockholm Syndrome…Why did I go back to this style? Maybe I miss the the late-nighters, the all-nighters, the progressive trance playlists, vending machine dinners and crazy-lady chats with cabbies on the way home. I reckon I’m just still tired from June!
When I started this blog I made the decision that I wouldn’t link to other content. No re-hashing, no re-posting. Original content only. I’m going to break that rule but not without good reason.

I’m not on facebook. I didn’t leave it; I never had an account. Please don’t get me wrong. I do believe in social networking. I do, I do, I do. I just don’t believe we have the best platform in place. Yet.

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/12/nyregion/12about.html?ref=technology

It’s thinking like this that’s going to push us a step further in finding a successful networking model that doesn’t require you to give away your data.

I set out to make an info-graphic poster. This week has been all about grids. The swiss grid system. If you’re thinking about swiss grids you can’t go past Geigy. They were a pharmaceutical company in operation mid-century (roughly 1940s to 1970s). Their product packaging and print collateral is some of the finest work I’ve ever seen. Grids. Minimalism. Block colours. Helvetica. Heaven!

So I ended up with less of an info-graphic and more of an ode to Geigy.

And as we’re coming into winter, a reminder to keep the sadcore rotation at a healthy level.

I have an awesome friend. She’s a scientist. She’s also one of the most creatively inspiring people I’ve ever met. Bernee Bean still takes the cake on the number 1 spot there, but she’s definitely a close second.

So lately I’ve been getting into generative art and teaching myself processing. This had led to talk of fractals with said friend. Fractal talk somehow spurred her to send me an email about magical polyhedrons. And so I made a dodecahedron! Occasionally it’s nice to get away from my mac and get my hands a little dirty, if only with a few sheets of a4 and a stick of uhu.

This is for you CAT.

Enjoy the magical dodecahedron!

Last weekend was my brother’s wedding in a chapel on the beachfront at Palm Cove in Far North Queensland. It was a beautiful and relaxed wedding with only 12 on the guest list. Listening to the waves crash while eating decadent seafood, ordering drinks from our very own private bar tender and smoking cigars amongst the palm trees and stars is pretty much my answer to the perfect night. In fact the entire weekend was so close to perfect it almost feels like a dream. Family, old friends, a few new ones, canadian club, beach walks, togs, thirty-one-derful degrees.
And now I have an awesome sister.

Perfect.

Boarding the flight back to Melbourne was one of the hardest things to do. But I think I say that everytime I go home.
I guess you have to leave it to truly love it.

I promise that someday soon I’ll stop posting photos of Queensland beaches….Maybe.
